Zander Cowen
Based in Boston, Zander is a self-taught documentary filmmaker specializing in corporate promotional videos, emotionally captivating documentaries, and visually compelling websites. His client roster is worldwide and his videos regularly garner thousands of views online. In the summer, he works as an instructor at the Pelham Island Pictures Film School, which he co-founded.

FILMMAKER
Zander co-founded film production company Pelham Island Pictures as a senior in high school and is currently its co-CEO. The company produces professional-quality films for small businesses and non-profits. Along with partner Jacob Sussman, he has produced, written, directed, edited, and acted as cinematographer on over forty paid projects for clients such as Bard College, Wesleyan University, and Boston Comic Con.
EDUCATOR
In the summer of 2014, Zander co-founded the Pelham Island Pictures Summer Film School, a summer camp for middle schoolers that teaches students how to write, direct, and act in their own short films. Students in the two-week program write screenplays, plan visual storyboards, operate professional digital camera gear, and edit video in Final Cut Pro X. The camp is located in Wayland, Massachusetts and has received rave reviews from the community, incurring a waitlist each year of its operation.
WEBSITE AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Zander's always had an eye for design and has been experimenting with web design and graphics every since he was a little kid. After designing and producing a website for his own film production company, he went on to design websites for other clients such as Edventi, an educational company tasked with helping kids make healthier decisions about drugs; and East Coast Escapes, a travel company that plans and organizes trips for retirees across the East Coast. Zander's design sensibilities allow him to design websites that are visually stunning, easy to understand and navigate, and effective at communicating a companies unique brand and message.

ABOUT ZANDER
In addition to founding Pelham Island Pictures and the Summer Film School, Zander has had numerous internships in all areas of the film industry. In the summer of 2017, he interned in Creative Services Department at CBS Boston. He has also worked at Interfilm Short Film Festival, Vox Television, and has completed a Storytelling Fellowship at Madeo, a leading digital media agency in New York City. Zander is also the recipient of numerous grants and awards including the CCE Community Action Award to fund his upcoming documentary about an educational NGO in Ghana and the "Grand Jury Prize, Documentary Narrative, Best Short Film" at the Orlando Urban Film Festival for his editing work for the film "Maya Osbourne: Confessions of a Quadroon".
